The 1st General Lyceum of Chania

The 1st General Lyceum of Chania is the most historic secondary school in the city of Chania with more than 125 years of school history. It is the continuation of the "Hellenic Gymnasium of Chania", which was founded in 1883 and of the former 2nd Lyceum of Chania. Until September 2005, the 1st Lyceum of Chania was housed in the historic building next to the Municipal Market and the 2nd Lyceum of Chania on Korai Street. In 2005, the merging and transfer of the two schools took place in the district of "Nea Chora". Famous students such as the politician Eleftherios Venizelos, the poet Konstantinos Kariotakis and the actor Alexis Minotis have attended our school.

The teaching staff consists of 30 University Teachers. Our school has a library - reading room, 3 labs: IT, Technology/Design and Physics lab, as well as a multi-purpose room.

Director of the school since August 2017 is Mr. Elias Pitsiliadis, Mathematician.
